This Islington Grade II Georgian listed terrace property had been used as a newsagent for over 30 years with living accommodation on the top two floors and a bathroom and storage in the basement.  It had suffered significantly from little or no maintenance for several decades. The Architectural work involved gaining planning and listed building consent for change of use to form three self-contained units creating a two-bedroom maisonette on the top two floors, a shop at ground floor and a one-bedroom basement flat.

The building work involved opening up the front light well for access and an entrance lobby, reducing the ground level to improve the headroom and extending into the garden to provide an additional room in the basement.  Separating the shop, incorporating welfare and   toilet facilities to disabled standards on the ground floor. Providing dedicated access to the top two floors and inserting a bathroom between the two existing bedrooms to form a self-contained maisonette.  The existing original features were maintained wherever they remained to comply with the listed status and permission was granted for high quality replacement double glazed sashes to the existing windows to comply with building control.
